Pesto bread - an absolute eye-catcher at every BBQ party!

Just as promised I've got inspiration for you using the self-made basil pesto from the last post. The pesto bread looks beautiful and is perfect for your next BBQ.

You need:

  • 1 package yeast

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

  • 600g flour

  • 300g water

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 50g oil

  • (selfmade) pesto

  1. mix 1 package yeast with 1/2 tsp sugar

  2. add 600g flour, 300g water and 2 tsp salt and mix it

  3. add 50g oil and knead well (5min+)

  4. coat the dough with olive oil and let it rest in a warm place for about 30-60min

  5. split the dough into three equal parts

  6. shape three identical circles (e.g. using a plate for size comparison)

  7. spread the pesto generously on the first dough (leave an edge ~1cm)

  8. stack until you've got: dough-pesto-dough-pesto-dough

  9. cut it into 16 sections like a cake but don't cut all the way through the middle

  10. twist each section and press two ends together (compare with the picture)

  11. let it rise once more for 15min

  12. bake at 200°C (upper/lower heat) for about 20min until golden ⠀⠀

I'll feature everyone who gives this pesto bread a try in my story on instagram- just send me your picture @running.for.food.
